Will blockout curtains make a room completely dark?
The fabric blocks light, but some light can still come around the edges. Ceiling-fixed tracks and extra overlap reduce this a lot. For the darkest result, combine a curtain with a cassette blind.
Do blockout curtains help with heating and cooling?
Yes. The dense fabric and the air trapped behind it act as a layer of insulation, which helps with heat through west-facing glass and heat loss on winter nights.
Can I have blockout curtains in any colour?
Blockout fabrics come in a wide range of colours and textures. The side facing the window is usually white or neutral so your house looks consistent from the street.
